Dr. George
&
Philanthropy

Philanthropy has always been a part of the DNA of the George family, and Dr. George has shared his time, talents and treasures with many organizations throughout South Jersey and Philadelphia over the years.

The saying “Leave a legacy you’ll be proud of” has taken on a new meaning over the last few years as the George Family has provided significant philanthropic support to two non-profit hospitals that have played a big part in Dr. George’s life.

In the fall of 2019 the George Family Emergency Medicine Pavilion was dedicated at the new Inspira Hospital in Mullica Hill, NJ. Dr. George’s art proudly graces the halls of this beautiful new facility and provides bright colors and happiness for all to enjoy.

Here’s a video and several pictures from the dedication ceremony:

Magee Rehabilitation Hospital pHILADELPHIA, pa

Magee Rehabilitation Hospital in center city Philadelphia has also been the beneficiary of generous support from Dr. George and his family. The Dr. James E. George Lobby warmly welcomes everyone to Magee, and is the home of the first display gallery of Dr. George’s art. This newly renovated lobby was brought to life by Dr. George’s art a few years ago, and provides a small glimpse into what’s possible for all Magee patients after their lives are changed by injury or illness.

And, when the entire hospital was renovated it was only fitting that Dr. George’s art would hang proudly on all four floors of new patient room. Here’s a glimpse into what patients, family members and visitors are treated to each day:

As you can tell, Dr. George takes great pride in sharing his art with others and thrives on the feedback he receives when people meet him for the first time. “So many people at Magee ask who is this Dr. George guy, and it’s been exciting for me to be able to introduce him to so many patients and their family members. It’s like meeting a superstar that is one of us; a former patient living with a disability who is making a huge impact on others,” said Mark Chilutti, Magee’s Assistant Vice President, who is also a former patient.

NEED WORDS for this section

“Dr. George and I got to know each other through Magee Rehab, where we both were patients, and now both serve on the Foundation Board. I’ve always admired art, and his art really has a way of brightening up the room, so after much convincing, I was thrilled when he agreed to share 17 pieces of art for display on the walls of the center-city office of my business; Your Part-Time Controller. Our employees and guests are now able to enjoy Dr. George’s art each day and it has provided us with a more upbeat and cheerful environment to serve the non-profit clients who need our help.”
