About the Artist James E. George, M.D., J.D.
“I have traveled an unlikely pathway to becoming an artist. My training as a medical doctor and attorney was not focused on art. In June of 2016, everything changed for me. I fell in my home and suffered a brain and spinal cord injury, which left me in a coma with quadriplegia.
During a six month stay at Magee Rehabilitation Hospital in Philadelphia, I discovered great joy in art therapy and painting.

Through my work, I hope to inspire patients, families, and others and connect them to my abstract art. Art heals the mind, body, and spirit—it is the gift that was given to me, and the one I want to share and make accessible to everyone.

Dr James E. George, MD, JD

“One of the things I enjoy the most about Dr. G’s work is that it has an exuberant, joyful, and untethered quality. Dr. G is full of freedom to approach his work each day with a playful curiosity and a love of life. The results are uniquely refreshing paintings that are beautiful, well painted, and fun. They speak to his character and life experiences which he brings to each canvas or work on paper.

These are paintings you want hanging in your home or office to enjoy. Dr. G’s personal story is a joyful triumph through many challenges. I am grateful that he turned towards art to continue to create his masterpiece of a life well-lived. I am pleased to be a part of his journey through his works, which I have curated into my gallery and into the homes of people who have loved collecting them. He continues to enrich, inspire, and heal so many.”
